Students in the program receive a balanced foundation of both practical and theoretical knowledge needed to teach English at all levels and to progress to doctoral studies in areas related to language teaching. By combining theory and practice, the curriculum seeks to produce informed teachers capable of using theory to enhance their teaching practice. The MEd programme in Health and Education is operated by the area of educational studies in collaboration with the area of public health studies. The programme's aim is to graduate teachers with strong professional knowledge and educational expertise in their specialties who have the ability to become outstanding teachers and leaders in their fields.

 

The MEd degree builds mainly on students' professional knowledge of public health, as a large part of the studies centers on that discipline. California University of Pennsylvania’s Advanced Studies in Teacher Education is a completely online 33 credit graduate program for certified teachers interested in gaining additional certification in Early Childhood Education. The curriculum is aligned with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards. Graduate students in the early childhood education degree program will apply knowledge of child development, families, and best teaching practices to a variety of educational settings including public schools pre-kindergarten to grade four primary programs, preschool programs, Head Start, child care, parenting and family support programs.   New career opportunities have evolved for educators with a strong background in the early childhood field of education. This degree will enable the early childhood educator to meet the specific needs of children and work with parents and other adults to nurture children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth n a child development framework. There are two options within the early childhood education program: A master’s degree and certification with thesis, action research, or internship (33 credits); A certification only program with thesis, action research, or internship (24 credits). It required that the internship be completed if you do not have early childhood experience (i.e., formal work and/or teaching experience working with Pre-K children).

The Master of Teaching (Secondary) is a 160 credit point course, taken in 2 years full-time or 4 years part-time with a 1.5 year accelerated program, designed to prepare secondary teachers to meet the requirements for teaching in Catholic, independent and government schools.

 

The course provides a particular focus on enabling participants to adopt a research-based approach to reflective practice and to consider the implications and applications of such an approach to their own professional development and to its contribution to the learning and wellbeing of those whom they teach.

 

The Master of Teaching (Secondary)/Graduate Certificate in Religious Education is the combination of the Master of Teaching (Secondary) and the Graduate Certificate in Religious Education, specifically designed to assist students to gain skills and knowledge for teaching Religious Education in Catholic Schools with their other teaching areas....

The MA TEFL is a taught Masters programme designed to give teachers of English as a Foreign Language a better understanding of the theory and practice of English language teaching today, and to prompt reflection on participants’ own practices as teachers.

Graduates from this programme would expect senior or leadership teaching positions, work in syllabus or materials design, test writing or teacher training, or placement in publishing, public relations and international organisations where advanced knowledge of English teaching and the ability to explain and apply this knowledge are expected.

The online master of arts degree in Secondary Education-Science is offered by the College of Human Resources and Education for educators who want to increase their skills in curriculum development. The applicant must be a certified teacher or eligible for certification.

The Master of Disability Studies provides a mix of theoretical and practical content. It is designed for professionals who are either working, or who aspire to work in the disability field in either a "hands-on", or managerial capacity.
