The Master of Rehabilitation Counselling provides opportunities for graduates with a background in psychology or another area of human services to undertake advanced level training in rehabilitation counselling. It is a HECS based course offered on a full-time or part-time study basis on the Hobart campus.

The Master of Counselling is aimed at graduats who seek a rewarding career as a professional counsellor as well as workers whose initial professional training is in an area other than psychology, yet are utilising counselling in their professional activities and require education and professional development in counselling.

At the Masters level students can develop advanced skills in counselling and obtain research training.

The Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling Psychology/Marriage & Family Therapy Program is designed for students who wish to pursue the counseling psychology track while receiving graduate-level training in the core curricular areas, including supervised clinical practice, required for licensure as a marriage and family therapist. Currently only available at Argosy University/Orange County, the coursework and practicum for this degree program are based on the MA in Counseling Psychology Program. This program is designed for students who wish to pursue the Counseling Psychology track while receiving graduate-level training in the core curricular areas, including supervised clinical practice, required for licensure as a marriage and family therapist in the state of California. Licensing requirements differ from state to state, so students should verify the Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) licensing requirements of the state in which they plan to become licensed.

The Master of Science in Community Agency Counseling prepares students to work as professional counselors in a variety of behavioral health and social service settings. Courses offered by the Department have been approved by both the National Board for Certified Counselors and by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for certification and continuing education credits (Act 48). The program fulfills the degree requirements necessary to become a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), as well as being able to take the National Counselor Examination (NCE). Students also have the option to take an additional 12 credits before or after graduation to total 60 credits, also required to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. Students will need two additional years of supervised work experience after graduation to complete the requirements for LPC. Courses are offered on campus with some distance or online offerings. School Counseling Programs at California University of PA are accredited by the Counsel for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Through the University, the Middle States Association of Colleges and Post-Secondary Schools accredits the Department of Counselor Education. The National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) accredits the School Counseling programs (Elementary and Secondary School Guidance). Courses offered by the Department have been approved by both the National Board for Certified Counselors and by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for certification and continuing education credits (Act 48). The Counselor Education Department is authorized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education to offer certification programs in Elementary and Secondary School Guidance. Our master's degree programs in School Counseling fulfill the degree requirements needed for both the National Counselor Examination (NCE), required to become National Certified Counselors (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC). Argosy University recognizes the need to provide human services providers with the extensive knowledge and range of skills necessary to function effectively in their profession. Programs have been developed by Argosy University faculty members to enable working professional to pursue their personal and professional goals through completion of a master’s program. The Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling Psychology has been designed to educate and train students to function effectively as licensed Marriage Family Therapists (MFT). The program introduces students to basic counseling skills that integrate individual and group theoretical foundations of counseling psychology into appropriate client interaction and intervention skills. Students are provided with all the necessary theoretical and practical elements that will allow them to be effective members of a mental health team.

The Master of Social Work aims to educate students for professional social work practice according to the standards set by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The AASW Practice Standards (2003) and Code of Ethics (2002) are a foundation for the courses in the program and define the knowledge and skills which must be learned during the course of study.

To be competent to begin social work practice, it is expected that graduates will be able to:

- understand the essential role of values in the practice of social work, incorporating the values of social justice, respect for human rights, and non-sexist, non-racist and non-discriminatory practice;

- demonstrate the capacity to analyse critically and to use theories, research findings and innovative developments in social work theory and the social and behavioural sciences as these inform and underpin social work practice;...

A recognised university degree. Graduates from a variety of awards will be eligible to undertake the program, including healthcare workers, physiotherapists, social workers, human resource professionals, change managers, teachers, dentists, medical therapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, ministers of religion and others.
