MA in Corporate Communication
Strategic management of communication processes
The MA in Corporate Communication provides the qualifications needed for effective corporate communication at strategic and operational level.
The first two semesters comprise the following courses: Corporate Communication provides insights into strategic corporate communication and includes corporate branding, value-based communication and communications planning. Strategic Management of Organisations in a Communicative Perspective provides insight into classical and critical approaches to strategic management in a communicative perspective. Corporate Communication in Change and Crisis Situations provides fundamental knowledge of theories and practices about change and crisis communication in organisations. Scientific Methods provides skills in selecting and applying scientific methods in relation to data collection, analyses, assessments and measurement of communicative phenomena. Stakeholder Relations provides insights into stakeholder management and stakeholder mapping.
In the third semester, students can choose between a project-based study and two teaching profiles: Integrated Marketing Communication, and HR Communication. In the fourth semester, students write their Master’s thesis. The topic for the final thesis is chosen freely, but must be approved by the student’s academic adviser.
Graduates in Corporate Communication readily find work in Danish and international companies and organisations as strategic employees at management level. Relevant positions typically focus on communication, public relations or corporate branding. Alternatively, graduates may be employed in a marketing division, in which they will be equipped to assume full responsibility for planning strategic communication with internal and external stakeholders.
“I chose the MA in Corporate Communication because it gave me the chance to get a flexible Master’s degree in communications, coupled with AU’s special international emphasis. I work as Communications Officer at the Danish Ministry for Children and Education, and the skills I acquired in assessing the organisation’s environment, stakeholders, target groups and issues are invaluable in my job for creating content for internal and external media.”
