Program Description

MA Counselling

University of East Anglia Faculty of Social Sciences

The MA in Counselling provides a thorough grounding in the theory and practice of the person-centred approach. You will also receive training in academic research techniques and have the opportunity to produce an extended piece of research on an area of personal interest.

Course structure

The course begins annually in September.

Year 1 of the course runs from September to June. The first and last weeks of the course are spent in intensive full-time training over five-day periods. The pattern for the remaining 30 weeks of the course will be the equivalent of three days a week in full-time training with two days devoted to counselling placement, individual supervision and personal study.

Year 2 of the course also runs from September to June. The year will start with three two-day sessions. Thereafter, while carrying out an individual research project and writing the dissertation, you will meet regularly with an academic supervisor.
