Graduate Programme in Professional Economics Are you interested in how decisions are made in the worlds of business and public policy? Do you want an economic toolbox that you can use to address 'real world' problems? Victoria's new Graduate Programme in Professional Economics (ProEcon) breaks new ground, developed in consultation with employers and leading economists to provide proficient individuals able to engage in rigorous economic analysis. It specifically responds to a real demand for skilled professional economists. While the ProEcon Programme has a firm basis in research, the emphasis is on how participants will use what they learn. The Government Economics Network, bank economists, members of the NZ Association of Economists and other professionals, have all contributed to shaping this programme and will continue to have input as invited speakers and reviewers. Programme structure We recognise that our students have demanding professional lives, so this programme is designed to give a high degree of flexibility and taught using an innovative modular approach. The ProEcon Programme offers three qualifications: Post-Graduate Certificate; Post-Graduate Diploma; and the Master's degree. All qualifications are course-work based, and delivered either by weekly lectures or intensive multi-day blocks that best respond to student needs. They can be completed within a year, or with study over a longer time period. Is the ProEcon Programme for you? Suitable professional experience or a strong academic record is necessary, but an extensive background in economics is not required. If your career aspirations involve real world economics, then you should be considering the Professional Economics programme.
